Konbanwa, Kyoto

This is a picture of Lara trying to keep her legs warm at the Tokyo station

Waiting has become a prominent pass time throughout this trip. As usual, we waited again for many hours and today boarded the Shinkansen bullet train to get to Kyoto, our next destination.

Excited to ride the Shinkansen!

This baby goes 130 mph. We're scheduled to get to Kyoto in approx 4 hours, usually would be 3, however we got the cheaper ticket to all stops. I was excited to take this train because I've always wanted to see Mt. Fuji since I've read that it's visible en route to Kyoto, too bad I fell asleep though.

The Shinkansen ride was incredibly smooth and so comfortable. And unbelievably clean as well! A bonus to our ride was the free drink coupon we were given. I chose a Sapporo to help me continue my nap. Hah.

We arrived into Kyoto at about 6 p.m. and checked into our hostel, Bakpak which was thankfully located right in front of the exit of the train station. The hallway to exit the train station was infinite, but look at what we saw once we exited...

Kyoto lights!

The city

and a random bar that plays Black music? Whatever that is

We've got a list of things we'd like to do here, mainly covering major UNESCO sights (mainly temples and shrines). I'm excited to see the architecture and the natural beauty of Kyoto that so many people have raved about.

Thanks, Jennie for the recommendations by the way!
