Last day in Samui

I'm a lot happier today! The sun finally came out today and we decided to soak up as much as we could. After catching some rays, we strolled around further today beyond our comfortable distance from our bungalow to the main street and took a long walk over to another see one of Koh Samui's sights, Hin Ta & Hin Yai.

Hin Ta & Hin Yai have been a spectacle for tourists all over the island. According to an old Samui legend, an elderly couple was en route to the mainland to procure a wife for her son when a fierce storm pummeled the ship and killed the two seafarers. Their bodies washed ashore and their respective genitals somehow petrified the shapes of the "Grandfather and Grandmother" rocks. We weren't able to see the Grandmother rock, but we for sure saw the Grandfather rock. The Grandmother's was supposed to be a few meters away from the Grandfathers.

We also met some sweet newlywed Aussies who were on their honeymoon here in Thailand. I asked the husband to take a few shots for us. We chatted for a bit and discovered that they were planning on doing charity work for various orphanages all over SE Asia in the next 3 months while traveling. I'd definitely love to do this with my husband, I could only imagine the growth that we'd share through that experience. They seemed incredibly happy, I couldn't help but only wish good things for them. Happy people make me happy.

Here are a few pictures... try to be serious...

Apparently this is what the Grandmother Rock looks like!

Along the way, we passed a few tourist shops and sampled these yummy green caramel candies similar to this Filipino dessert that I really like. I'm not sure what it's called but it usually comes in 3 colors: purple, yellow and white. Anyone know? Anyway, it tastes like coconut and rice. Dee-lish.

Today was a beautiful day. We're heading over to the street food market for dinner. Had a delightful chicken massaman last night that I can't stop thinking about and a pineapple shake that could have been spiked for another 50 baht. Today's weather was so much better than yesterday's. Mother Nature, be good to us in Ko Phi Phi! We're leaving tomorrow at 6 a.m. and arriving at 4 p.m. (another long journey)

I'm excited!

P.S. tan lines are great.
