On an island in the sun

Lara is getting really good at taking these jumping photos of me.

This island hopping thing is getting really tiring (kinda...)

We're finally on Koh Phi Phi! We arrived around 5 p.m. yesterday after a grueling long journey from Koh Samui to Surrat Thani to Krabi then finally en route to Koh Phi Phi. The west coast definitely has been keeping the sun all to themselves. The view here is amazing!

After getting off the boat, we were once again greeted by aggressive resort reps. We decided not to stay along the dock area and tried to find a room that was wasn't listed under these mass produced travel books. To our dismay, dorms were booked and so were rooms at the budget accommodation spots. We lucked out by curiously asking a diving travel agency if there were any rooms she could suggest and discovered that she had a room available for us to stay in for 500 baht ($15 USD)! The room was actually nicer than I'd expected. I think Kirk would be impressed by the interior decor and the room's wall color... reminded us of Isara. =(

Various bars along the way

I have also discovered that Koh Phi Phi does not allow any form of automobiles or motorbikes on the island (with the exception for a local water company to distribute gallons of water along the island). Onomatopoeia, "Beep, beep" is often used here by the locals on bicycles to gain some walk way space. Oh yeah, and Lara nearly got ran over by a man on a bike (and in return she was stared down by him... haha!)

Today we decided to trek through the island and onto a path that would take us to the nicer beach called Long Beach, or Hat Yao in Thai. The trek was a bit strenuous at first, however the sights along the way compensated our sweat and anticipation. We stopped at a secluded beach where various beach bums were creating their own nudest colony... just kidding, only a few brazen old women were brave enough to sunbathe this way. Attempts to take holiday photos were underway... I'll let you know when that's a success...

Could have taken one of these bad boys over to the beach, but we decided to trek instead

After sweating off my sunblock, getting a few scrapes on my legs from tree roots and one tint darker, we finally saw this in the distance!

It actually took us another 5 minutes to get to this gorgeous beach. Here's a video we took:

The sand was really fine and white! An exfoliation session sounded appropriate at this point...

We're here for another few days then off to Bangkok. Planning on visiting Koh Phi Phi Ley, the island that's popular from the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio about discovering a beautiful paradise and assimilating into an expat colony, The Beach.

Island hopping is so rad. =) I couldn't be happier at this point.

Seriously, wish you were here...
